Miles Hiked Overall: 289 (466 km)
Today we hiked 10.4 miles from Humbug Mountain State Park to Paradise Point State Rec Site. It was another beautiful, sunny day.
While walking in the state park, part of the trail is the remnants of the old Hwy 101, which was cool to walk on.The old coast hwy is higher up than the current road, so it has even better views.
We then had to walk on the current 101 for a little bit and then finally down to the beach. While there are signs at many (but certainly not all) junctions for the trail, some like the one below are covered with bushes that Mike is holding apart in this photo.
This part of the beach has many huge rocks not far from the shore...it's an interesting view. One such huge rock structure is a sight of a battle with native Americans...just one more example of white people forcing their way upon natives.
We then got to walk through Port Orford on our way to the beach for the rest of the hike. At the end we had a choice of taking local roads all the way back to our car, or doing the last ~ mile on the beach. The beach was advertised as having very loose sand (in other words hard to walk on), but also being a place that you could find agates. Mike convinced me that we should go look for agates, so we took the beach. Well, we found some agates but they were tiny!
We then drove down to Gold Beach where we spent the night. As we were having dinner there was a great sunset.
