Where We Are Tonight: Cape Lookout State Park Miles Hiked Today: 13.6 (21.9 km)
Miles Hiked Overall: 222 (358 km)
Today we had a beautiful 13.6 mile hike that hit the trifecta of the OCT: we walked on the road, a wooded path AND the beach. We walked from Netarts Bay to Sand Lake. We walked around Sand Lake because there wasn't anyone who can give rides there (that we could see) and even at very low tides, it's very difficult to ford across where the lake goes into the ocean. We hiked over the 2nd of the 3 capes - Cape Lookout. On this part of the hike, we met our first fellow OCT hikers! (Most people stare at us blankly when we tell them what we're doing...it was so nice to see some recognition in someone's face!) The beach was beautiful and secluded and it also goes right by a Boy Scout and Cub Scout camp where we've spent much time!
